Though the university management hasn’t made any official announcement about the arrangement, students on Twitter has been sharing the news and presenting their two cents about it.

The 22-year-old Nobel Prize laureate from Swat has recently graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics in a virtual graduation ceremony.

She had shared the news of her graduation when she participated in of the popular lineup in YouTube original, Dear Class of 2020 – where Michelle Obama, Beyoncé and more stars came together to celebrate the graduates on June 8. The activist had expressed her joy and gratitude after her degree completion.

Malala recently graduated from Oxford University. Her online exams just ended just recently in June. She had a celebratory moment with her family in London

Previously she was a speaker at the virtual ‘Graduate Together‘ ceremony with people from all across the world, when she herself had not even graduated.

Pakistani Twitter is divided over Malala being the keynote speaker at this year’s convocation

Ever since Malala Yousfzai survived a shot to the head by Taliban soldiers on her way back to home from school back in 2012, there have been conflicting views about her among Pakistanis.

There are conflicting opinions about Malala in Pakistan. The education activist was shot on the head by the Taliban in 2012. She was evacuated to UK and then stayed there as she was offered a scholarship to study at Oxford.

Soon after the news broke on Twitter, LUMS students became divided over Malala’s presence at their graduation ceremony.

On one side, some LUMS grads-to-be and even people who are not even from LUMS are excited about the prospect.

On the other hand, some students were of the view that she isn’t good enough to be the keynote speaker for the LUMS convocation. Seeing as the activist just recently graduated from Oxford, people argue that she is not qualified enough to be a keynote speaker on their big day.

Some people explained why they don’t like Malala Yousafzai as her silence on key issues in Pakistan has irked the public.

Then there are also claims on Twitter that some students suggested replacing the Nobel Peace Prize-winning activist with Bilal Khan the singer at their convocation.

That’s when students from other varsitites started questioning LUMS students’s intelect over them wanting to invite Bilal Khan instead of Malala

Based on the mixed responses online it’s unclear what the LUMS management will do regarding this situation.

However, we think Bilal must be feeling very lucky for being the prestigious university student’s favorite for their convication. We are eager to see how LUMS, Malala Yousfzai, or Bilal will react to such news.
