Peshawar Badminton Club’s Palwasha Bashir To Represent Pakistan Today At The 2020 Uganda International Championships

Badminton Sensation Palwasha to represent Pakistan alongwith fellow star Mahoor Shahzad during the international badminton tournament where they will play against top contenders from around the world for the title.


Karachi born Palwasha Bashir is a badminton player from Pakistan who is associated with the Peshawar Badminton Club. Ms. Palwasha Bashir has represented Pakistan nationally and internationally for several years. She rose to fame a decade ago with back-to-back national titles in women’s singles and doubles.

In 2009 she won her first national women’s singles along with the women’s doubles series. She also won the bronze medal at South Asian Federation Games 2010 and represented Pakistan at Asian Games 2014 and Commonwealth Games 2018. She also won women’s singles in 2016 and doubles in 2016 and 2017, in BWF International Series. Recently, she won the women’s double title at the 42nd UAE Open Badminton Tournament 2019, making Pakistan proud.

The 32 years old badminton star has also been the Pakistan National Champion 8 times and also brought home a Silver medal from the Bahrain International Series.

Mahoor Shahzad, on the other hand, was the women’s singles champion in the 2017 Pakistan International tournament. She also has competed at the 2014 Asian Games. She also participated in the Asian Games 2018, where She had an exquisite match with world no 1 and scored 21-14 and 21-17.

The duo will represent Pakistan today at the 2020 Uganda International Championships that will take place from 20 to 23 February, 2020 in the Lugogo Indoor Stadium, Kampala.

The Pakistani duo will take part in women’s singles and team-up in women’s double at the international tournament. Mahoor Shahzad will face Jordan Hart of Wales, while Palwasha Bashir will play against Mauritius Kate Foo Kune in the women’s singles first round. While for the women’s double, Mahoor and Palwasha will play against the Uganda’s duo of Patience Abasa and Bridget Ategeka in the first round.
