The much-awaited reunion special of Friends will finally hit the screens on HBO Max this May 27. On Thursday, HBO Max unveiled the first trailer for the special, which reconvenes original cast members Jennifer AnistonCourteney CoxLisa KudrowMatt LeBlancMatthew Perry, and David Schwimmer for a conversation about the series.

HBO also announced that a grab bag of celebrity guest stars are going to join the long-awaited Friends reunion including the former Friends alumni, including Tom Selleck, Maggie Wheeler, and James Michael Tyler. Cherry on top, there are a bunch of other star folks who will be making appearances, such as Lady GagaMindy KalingJustin Bieber, K-Pop band BTS, and, to our surprise, our very own Malala Yousafzai.

Having Malala Yousafzai in Friends reunion has us wondering if the nobel laureate is also an avid fan of the hit NBC sitcom. Amidst a bunch of A-list actors, athletes, and musicians, Malala doesn’t have any other known ties to the Friends show which aired from 1994 to 2004. (Malala was born in 1997.)

We’re also not sure if she will be appearing virtually or in-person to share her thoughts on the Central Perk gang. What we DO know, however, is that the 23-year-old nobel laureate has expressed her wish to dive into comedy series for a change after after tirelessly advocating for girls’ education.

“Just like everybody else, I also need a break to just focus on a show like Big Bang TheoryGirlfriends or Ted Lasso,” she said in a podcast a few months ago. “These are things that just keep you sort of happy for a second. It helps you just to escape from all of the problems that are there outside,” she added.

The long-awaited reunion episode was originally set to debut when HBO Max launched in May. However, as the effects of the coronavirus pandemic spread worldwide — HBO was was forced to postpone production of the show.

Finally, after numerous delays, pay negotiations, and social media teases, the long-awaited Friends reunion is upon us. The special episode will reunite stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, and Matt LeBlanc on the original soundstage where Friends was shot.

Oh, and did we mention is also going to appear in the Friends reunion along with Malala? Hopefully each of them will be asked an important question: do they think Ross and Rachel were really on a break?
