Khyber Pakhtunkhwa To Become The First & Only Pakistani Province To Offer Universal Health Insurance
In a significant development, Khyber Pakthunkhwa moght become the country’s first ever province to provide Universal Health Insurance to citizens through their ‘Sehat Insaf Programme’.
According to the statement by Taimur Khan Jhagra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Finance Minister, every family and individual in the province will have coverage of Rs.10 lac with this new insurance program.
The PTI government’s Sehat Insaf Program is a big step towards social welfare in the province. Through this program, underprivileged citizens will also be able to get medical care, without putting a financial strain on themselves.
Apart from this, people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also get access to avail-in patient services, maternity consultancy, fracture, heart surgery, injuries, emergency treatments and procedures including angioplasty, bypass, dialysis, chronic infection, cancer, burns, and neurological procedure.
The insurance will also cover local transportation worth Rs.1,000.
To apply for the insurance, individuals need to first check for their eligibility and in case they are eligible, they can apply for the Sehat Insaf Card which will provide access to the insurance program.
