Javed Afridi, the prestigious entrepreneur and owner of Peshawar Zalmi steals the spotlight every now and then for his fresh ideas and innovations. His Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi is one among the top-performing teams in the league.
With the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) coming up in a couple of weeks, Javed Afridi has been making valiant efforts to globalize Peshawar Zalmi and attract fans from all over the world.
Rumors of Turkish actress, Esra Bilgiç, becoming Peshawar Zalmi’s brand ambassador has already got Zalmi fans talking. However, to add a cherry on top: Javed Afridi has hinted at a possible Rihanna-Peshawar Zalmi collaboration for PSL 2021.
Enthusiasm poured in on Pakistani Twitter as Peshawar Zalmi owner, Javed Afridi, dropped a jaw-dropping hint, sending Zalmi fans into a frenzy:
that the pop queen, Rihanna, might be in line to sing their team anthem for PSL 2021.
This comes after a meltdown on Indian Twitter after Rihanna tweeted in favor of the ongoing Farmers’ Protest in India.
“Why aren’t we talking about this,” the pop queen wrote on Twitter, sharing an article about the movement and using the hashtag #FarmersProtest.
Rihanna’s tweet sent Indians — including numerous Bollywood celebrities — scrambling to somehow one-up the pop icon for speaking against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s agricultural reforms.
Rumors are that some even called the pop star a Pakistani agent. You know — the go-to statement for Bhakts in every f-ed up situation.
Enjoying the beef was Pakistani Twitter who seized the moment and reminded Indians on social media that one does not necessarily become a Pakistani-agent for the speaking up against India’s mess.
Taking the opportunity of the ongoing madness, The Peshawar Zalmi owner owner, Javed Afridi dropped a hint of having the pop queen sing the franchise’s anthem ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021.
Rihanna has now become the center of curiosity in Pakistan as well. Zalmi fans are curious and excited at the same time about the sudden prospect of having a Zalmi-Rihanna collaboration.

“This is what can be expected from just-became-rich-people like you in this country. When we have our own Pakistani artists, why would you want her to sing the anthem? And if you could add some Sufi poetry instead of drummers this time, it would be amazing,” wrote another.

“Why only invite Rihanna? If Imran Khan’s government likes, Sunny Leone can also be invited to the Islamic Republic of Pakista. You would not even have to go that far. Despite all that wealth, Allah has taken away their wisdom. Imran Khan has made women dance in protests, and now he wants to show it all over the media in the stadium. Astagfirullah.”
Rihanna for Peshawar Zalmi..
Greta Thunberg for karachi kings…
What about Mia Khalifa? 🤷♂️— Ihtisham Ul Haq (@iihtishamm) February 3, 2021
