Some say they would rather like Bilal Khan the singer to be the keynote speaker on their big day.
Malala Might Be The Keynote Speaker At LUMS This Year And Twitter Is Divided Over The Decision

The Nobel prize-winner from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swat region, Malala Yousafzai will reportedly be the keynote speaker at this year’s convocation at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).However, the LUMS crowd has mixed reactions to this supposed decision.
Though the university management hasn’t made any official announcement about the arrangement, students on Twitter has been sharing the news and presenting their two cents about it.
The 22-year-old Nobel Prize laureate from Swat has recently graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics in a virtual graduation ceremony.
She had shared the news of her graduation when she participated in of the popular lineup in YouTube original, Dear Class of 2020 – where Michelle Obama, Beyoncé and more stars came together to celebrate the graduates on June 8. The activist had expressed her joy and gratitude after her degree completion.
Malala recently graduated from Oxford University. Her online exams just ended just recently in June. She had a celebratory moment with her family in London
Previously she was a speaker at the virtual ‘Graduate Together‘ ceremony with people from all across the world, when she herself had not even graduated.
Pakistani Twitter is divided over Malala being the keynote speaker at this year’s convocation
Ever since Malala Yousfzai survived a shot to the head by Taliban soldiers on her way back to home from school back in 2012, there have been conflicting views about her among Pakistanis.
There are conflicting opinions about Malala in Pakistan. The education activist was shot on the head by the Taliban in 2012. She was evacuated to UK and then stayed there as she was offered a scholarship to study at Oxford.
Soon after the news broke on Twitter, LUMS students became divided over Malala’s presence at their graduation ceremony.
@Malala will be joining the virtual convocation of #LUMS class of 2020 as a guest speaker. Wouldn't be surprised if LUMS face another backlash this month on all social medias. pic.twitter.com/qM4cGpT2hK

On one side, some LUMS grads-to-be and even people who are not even from LUMS are excited about the prospect.
So happy for 2020 LUMS kids getting Malala as their convocation keynote speaker, while we got a shady philanthropist later arrested for financial fraud (Arif Naqvi, 2017)

LUMS is getting Malala as their keynote speaker!! https://t.co/KCv1cReUUe

Wish I was a student graduating from #LUMS so I could hear #Malala speak. Incredibly lucky!
— Marium Chaudhry (@MariumCh) June 30, 2020
I hope @Malala Yousafzai knows that the vast majority of students & faculty are absolutely thrilled to hear she might be our convocation speaker! Have never been so excited about any of our potential convocation speakers before!

Proud moment. ❤️ When she graduated from Oxford, a South African and Belizian from my cohort congratulated my Afghan friend thinking she is from Afghanistan. I don’t blame them, as I do believe that a lot of Pakistanis don’t seem to own her as they should.

On the other hand, some students were of the view that she isn’t good enough to be the keynote speaker for the LUMS convocation. Seeing as the activist just recently graduated from Oxford, people argue that she is not qualified enough to be a keynote speaker on their big day.
Keynote speaker of LUMS class of 2020 is Malala Yousafzai. 😷
— Non-Pookie (@messedup_girl1) June 29, 2020
Is this true?
Now Greta Thunberg can join LUMS as a full time professor of environmental science.
Abhe Malala ko graduate huay ek maheena bhi nhe hua or Pohnch gye LUMS walay usko convocation pe bulanay. Ajeeb monopolists na hon tou.

Some people explained why they don’t like Malala Yousafzai as her silence on key issues in Pakistan has irked the public.
Hearsay but some of have claimed it hurts their sentiments as they have family in the army and Malala is apparently anti-army…

Then there are also claims on Twitter that some students suggested replacing the Nobel Peace Prize-winning activist with Bilal Khan the singer at their convocation.
Malala is the keynote speaker for batch 2020 convocation, but the students want bilal khan instead 🙌🏻❤#Bilalkhan #LUMS #malala pic.twitter.com/wpDDxpFv7Q

Although some of lums kids think Bilal khan is an appropriate choice of for convocation as opposed to Malala. https://t.co/MXc4Ie7y6c

Malala is the keynote speaker for batch 2020 convocation at Lums. But they want Bilal khan instead Malala ,😄

That’s when students from other varsitites started questioning LUMS students’s intelect over them wanting to invite Bilal Khan instead of Malala
lums students wanting to replace malala with bilal khan as a keynote speaker is such a glorious example of how education doesn't do shit if you're hardwired to dumbassery abay manufacturing fault hai in sab mein fuckin punk ass fartfaces

🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Malala: I’m an activist for the right to education & the youngest Nobel laureate 🙂
— bis (@itsokaybis) June 29, 2020
Bilal Khan: hay guys ,, aadat ki tune bajaun?
Its not Billal Khans fault that lums kids would rather have him than malala. If you disagree, larho mujhey.
— Mustapha Zafar (@MustaphaZKhan) June 30, 2020
I used to think all LUMS students are highly intellectual but when I found out that some of them wanna invite Bilal Khan instead of Malala Yousafzai as a keynote speaker at graduation, guess maybe going to a fancy ass university can’t change you if you’re a pretentious bastard ☺️
— zaiban (@zaibannn) June 30, 2020
LUMS graduates not wanting Malala as their keynote speaker are the logical consequence of the unbroken, sustained campaign to post anyone as anti-state that dares asks questions in the country.
— gal galoch (@antifatwa) June 30, 2020
Some classes in liberal arts arent going to help much.
Based on the mixed responses online it’s unclear what the LUMS management will do regarding this situation.
However, we think Bilal must be feeling very lucky for being the prestigious university student’s favorite for their convication. We are eager to see how LUMS, Malala Yousfzai, or Bilal will react to such news.
